Program:

 Space 1026
Ted Passon, 2007, USA, video/film, color, sound, 21:00 min.
A portrait of a community of artists and the building in Philadelphia that anchors them together. Comprised of over ten years worth of documentation, this short examines the challenges and successes of artists with little resources trying to create a work space that would later unexpectedly flourish into a community space.

Beautiful Losers
Aaron Rose, 2008, USA, 35mm, color, sound, 90:00 min                           In the early 1990's, a loose-knit group of likeminded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip-hop, and graffiti, they made art that reflected their lifestyles. Developing their craft with almost no influence from "the establishment" art world, this group and the subcultures they sprang from, became a movement that continues to transform pop culture.

Featuring artists Margaret Kilgallen, Mike Mills, Barry McGee, Phil Frost, Chris Johanson, Harmony Korine, ESPO, and others, Beautiful Losers speaks to what happens when the "outside" becomes "in" as it explores the creative ethos connecting these artists and today's youth.
